Interested in a Career in Real Estate? A career in real estate can be very rewarding as well as providing flexibility. You can work as much or as little as you like. How successful you are directly relies on the effort you put forth. There is no limit to how much you can earn. Success will come to those who are motivated, ambitious, goal oriented with great communication and organizational skills. A great deal of satisfaction goes along with helping to purchase or sell a home.

To become a realtor you will first need a license and pass a State exam. You must take a 75 hour pre-license course that is accredited by the NY State Licensing Agency before you can take the exam. If you want to become a broker which gives you the ability to manage a real estate office or own your own business, you will need additional education and pass an additional exam. You must also be a licensed real estate salesperson for a period of two years before you can apply for your Broker's License.

Now that you have made the decision to make a career move, your next focus is to find leads and to build up your client base.  This will branch off your time spent in the office answer phone calls to gather leads, S&T website lead pool, referrals from friends and family, personal marketing efforts (example: door hangers, Facebook, mailers etc).  Your biggest "asset" is yourself.  The MLS is your tool and your efforts will reflect in sales in the form of income.
