Williamsville, New York

Incorporated in 1850, the village of Williamsville is one of more than 500 chartered by the state of New York. The village of just over 5,000 citizens, along with the city proper of Williamsville, nestle against the city limits of Amherst, but also overlap with Cheektowaga, marrying the cultural heritage of two distinct communities with more than a century and a half of its own American charm.

A little more than twenty-five years ago, Williamsville adopted a community-wide Historic Preservation Code, with the aim of protecting some of the most significant cultural, historic and architectural icons that help define the village’s character. So far, eleven sites, including the Village Meeting House and the Williamsville Water Mills, have been designated historic.

One of the greatest assets the community of Williamsville enjoys is having five parks, all within its one-mile boundary. Island Park is a sort of social hub, boasting such events as Old Home Days, the Savor-the-Flavor/Taste of Williamsville Food Festival, Music in the Park Series and Christmas Caroling in the Pines. Nature lovers enjoy Glen Park, which includes waterfalls and interconnecting pools. Other parks include walking trails, wading pools, athletic fields and playground equipment for active little ones.

Natural and historic amenities are only some of the reasons why more people are calling Williamsville home these days. With median incomes above state averages, but with home values less than half of median prices statewide, residents can buy more real estate for their money, and still have enough left over to enjoy a little nightlife now and then. With Buffalo and Amherst both within less than ten miles of Williamsville, there are plenty of options when it comes to dining out, fine arts and even nearby employment.

For those who enjoy experiencing the four seasons, Williamsville is ideal. Summers enjoy temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s most days, while keeping within national averages during the winter.

Williamsville is centrally located within 30 miles of eight different higher education institutions, bringing a diverse, rich intellectual vigor to the area. For families interested in having options for their younger ones, there are thirteen public and private options through eighth grade, along with two public high schools and one private secondary academy. Williamsville’s public schools consistently rank high in educational achievement and, of course, you don’t have to travel far to any of them!

Whether you are retired, heading to college or looking to raise a family, Williamsville has something to offer you. If charm, history and tranquility are top on your list of priorities, consider visiting this little piece of American history. Better yet, there are plenty of reasons to call Williamsville home including some terrific buys on real estate. And the best part of Willaimsville, is that's where you will find the Main office of Stovroff and Taylor Realtors, right down the road from Charlie the Butcher (voted number 1 "Roast Beef on Weck" anywhere).
